FESTINA LENTE

Festina Lente, is the Latin rendering of the aphorism “Σπεῦδε Βραδέως”, which constitutes our caption and belongs to Chelon the Lacedaemonian, one of the 7 sages of antiquity. He is also credited with some of the most important laconic aphorisms such as “μηδέν ἄγαν”, “χρόνου φείδου”, “νόμοις πείθου”, “γνῶθι σαὐτόν” and “τό λακωνίζειν ἐστί φιλοσοφεῖν”. The alteration of his name constitutes the first pillar of inspiration for the creation of the corporate identity of the Social Cooperative Enterprise (Coin.S.Ep) “ Xelon ”.

 

Our logo directly refers to the reptile turtle, which is one of the longest-lived living beings, as due to its exoskeleton it has few natural predators. Over time, it has been a source of inspiration in many societies and cultures from ancient Greece, with a classic example being Aesop’s fable “The Hare and the Tortoise”, to India where as the “cosmic turtle” of Indian mythology it carries the entire world on its back.

The triptych is complemented by the special choice of color palette which, in addition to being a personal preference of one of our founding members, coincidentally also constitutes the official worldwide color for the year 2022.

 

The amalgamation of all these elements is not accidental. The “ Xelon ” Cooperative is a product of special research and aims, with its activities in the broader field of exercise and recreation in nature, to help its members slowly and steadily, without risk of injury, to conquer the “εὖ” in their lives.
